AUDITIONS

Virtual Submissions
 
Please send a current headshot, resume, and an audition video package for consideration. Your audition video package should contain a 32-bar song cut, a 60-second monologue,and any dance/movement footage for consideration. No acapella submissions will be considered. All videos MUST be sent via an unlisted YOUTUBE link. All materials required should be emailed directly to the casting team at auditions@greatplainstheatre.com. All of these videos will be considered for our 30th Season. Thank you for your time, talent, and commitment!

HONKY TONK ANGELS
Rehearsals: September 23 - September 30,2024
Performances: October 4-13, 2024
 
Angela [20-35, Mezzo-Soprano]
A Texas housewife in her mid thirties. She has a great sense of humor and a fiercely independent streak. She identifies with “Roseanne,” an earth-mother comedienne. Sings “Stand By Your Man” and “Harper Valley PTA”
 
Darlene [18-25, Soprano Belt]
A young woman from the deep South in her late teens to early twenties. She is pretty, sweet and simple. A young woman who grew up in a coal mining town in West Virginia and the Mississippi Delta. She plays simple guitar. She also clogs. Sings “I Will Always Love You” and “Fancy.”
 
Sue Ellen [20-35, Alto Belt]
A Los Angeles career woman in her thirties. She is a“citified” country girl in her
mid-thirties. Smart, very attractive, and confident. She dances, roller skates and twirls batons(if possible). She also clogs. She is a great dancer. Sings “9 to 5” and “Rocky Top.”

 

PLAID TIDINGS

Rehearsals: November 25 - December 5, 2024
Performances: December 6-15 , 2024
 
FRANCIS [20-40, F3-B5]
The leader and caretaker of the group. Confident. Asthmatic. He has a great deal of compassion for the music and the group. Romantic crooner and spiritual singer.
 
Sparky[20-40, F3-G5]
The clown of the group, who is shown to have a heart. Very sharp and loves singing his tailor-made solos. Wears a retainer and has a slight speech impediment. Energetic and clever.
 
Jinx [20-40, F3-D6]
The shy one. He lives his life terrified and doesn't always remember what song comes next. Sparky's step-brother, he occasionally gets a nosebleed when he sings above an A.
 
Smudge [20-40, F3-G5]
The worrier. He worries about the props, the running order, and always assumes the audience won't like him. Has a chronic nervous stomach and is oddly reluctant to perform.
