      The Clumsy Duckling

“Based on the classic fairy tale The Ugly Duckling, The Clumsy Duckling, written by GPT’s Education Director Greg Krumins, is based around a young duckling named Calvin.  Calvin’s mother was a famous dancer and is training her three children, including his two sisters Olivia and Sophia, to follow in her webbed footsteps.  But Calvin is, as the title describes, just too clumsy for his own good.  Upset with his Mother, Calvin decides to run away to the Barnyard Stomp a local hootenanny with singing and dancing but gets lost along the way.  Also in search of the elusive Barnyard Stomp is Franklin the Fox who has a different menu of ideas when he finds the Stomp.  With the help of new friends, Calvin reaches his destination and realizes that once you let loose and have fun, anything is possible.”

A Doctor in Spite of Himself

A true slapstick comedy, A Doctor in Spite of Himself is a freely adapted version by Moliere.  The central character, Sganarelle, is just an ordinary woodcutter, but after he and his wife, Martine, argue she decides to exact revenge.  Two gentleman arrive searching for a doctor to save their Master’s daughter from a horrible illness and Martine hatches a brilliant scheme.  She explains to them that her husband is a famous doctor, but he will never admit it unless you beat the truth out of him.  Equipped with this news the two men convince Sganarelle to join them back to their home.  As he “diagnoses” his patient he soon finds he does have the right medicine for the master’s ailing daughter.
