Life as an Actor at GPT

Exactly. That’s what you’re wondering. What is life as an actor like in Abilene, KS? Why should I come out to GPT?

Here’s the thing: at GPT you have the opportunity to bring theatre to a population that has limited or no opportunity to see it. You will likely be the first and sometimes the ONLY professional theatre that our patrons get to see. At GPT we think that it is an incredible opportunity and a gift to bring theatre to central Kansas.

Abilene is a beautiful little town with fine dining (or sonic, whatever you’re into), an old soda fountain, cute local merchants, open space, fresh air and friendly people. There are certainly worse ways to live, you know? Wake up in our beautiful actor housing with old, vaulted ceilings, wireless internet and a few of your best friends, skip by the gym (2 minute walk) or the theatre (4 minute walk) or the bank (3 minute walk) or your favorite coffee shop (40 second walk?). Get the idea? Take pride in bringing a great product to a wonderful house of patrons in the heart of America.

Not to mention, the whole time you’re earning EMC points or on an AEA contract, which is pretty sweet. On top of that we have an actor first mentality- this theatre understands your process and the conditions under which you work best. We provide those conditions. We’re looking for great performers and great people- we hope you’re one of them.
