Great Plains Theatre

It has been stated that the GPT is the fastest growing and the most exciting professional theater in all the Midwest. Over 14,000 people each year enjoy the efforts of these professional actors to bring you an evening of exhilarating entertainment.

Celebrating its 14th year of live theatre, the Great Plains Theatre was started in 1995 by two New York actors intersted in bringing theatre to a small community and allowing actors a place to work on their craft. Abilene, KS, home of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, is a welcoming town filled with generous residents and a supportive community. The year-round theatre is housed in the historic Presbyterian Church built in 1886.

Our Mission

The mission of the Great Plains Theatre is to produce quality live professional theatre in the heart of the Great Plains, establishing a center for educational and creative opportunities in the dramatic arts.
